Last night at the Hotel Palacio Tudemir was held the ordinary General Assembly of the Traders Association of the Municipality of Orihuela, which was attended by some of the presidents of its 32-year history.
Its president began the assembly by thanking the Board of Directors for the great work they are doing to enhance the value of trade and hospitality, to enhance the municipality of Orihuela and above all to insufflate energy and motivation for all to walk together.
The main objective of the Association of Merchants and Hoteliers of the Municipality of Orihuela is to work so that its members do better, to work so that its members see in ACMO a tool that brings them value, a traveling companion.
Then the numbers were presented where in 2023 they have grown in number of associates by 23%, having at this moment a total of 216 members as of today, the highest number in its 32 years of history. Its president also indicated that “We have to recognize that these numbers are fantastic and even more so if we highlight the current context, where according to the data that recently appeared in the press during 2023 more than 4,300 establishments were closed in the Valencian Community. Faced with this current situation and given our results, we have to be proud of what we have achieved. At the same time, continue working with tenacity and the same enthusiasm so that trade and hospitality in Orihuela becomes a robust, innovative and influential sector”.
There was also time to recall the 5 points that were demanded at last year’s assembly to the candidates for the municipal elections and which are necessary for the proper functioning of the sector.
1- More influx of people in our streets
2- More parking
3- Bono consumo in the budgets of the Orihuela City Council.
4- A clean and well-kept municipality
5- Revive Ramón y Cajal Main Street
The assembly ended with the Board of Directors recognizing Mr. Antonio Cabrera, president of ACMO from 1998 to 2003, for his work during all those years, as well as for his kindness in donating to the association all the material he had for safekeeping and to form part of the ACMO archives.
